Petrol is cheaper from today. A litre now costs Rs374.51, down Rs3.40, and diesel is down Rs7.76 to Rs395.20 a litre. The new rates took effect on 3 November, just a day after the government said it had held petrol steady.

This is a follow-up to the government holding petrol Rs15 a litre cheaper through a deal with local refineries. That deal stopped a rise on Friday. Monday evening brought a second step, a real cut in the pump price itself.

Aaj News reported that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority issued the new prices on Monday under the federal government's pricing system. Petrol falls from Rs377.91 to Rs374.51 a litre, and high speed diesel falls from Rs402.96 to Rs395.20. It is the first petrol cut after the price stayed unchanged at Rs377.91 in Friday's revision, when diesel had gone up by Rs2.29 a litre.

Daily Pakistan reported that Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced the cut at a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, with Information Minister Attaullah Tarar beside him. Malik said local refineries will carry an estimated Rs15 billion a month in costs so drivers do not have to, and that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had talked to refinery owners himself to find a way to soften the blow from rising world fuel costs during the United States and Israel war with Iran.

For a driver, the saving is small but real. A 40 litre petrol tank now costs Rs136 less than it did yesterday, and a 40 litre diesel fill costs Rs310.40 less. Diesel matters most for trucks, buses and farmers, so the bigger diesel cut should help keep transport and food costs from climbing as fast.

The key figures:

  • Petrol: Rs377.91 to Rs374.51 a litre, down Rs3.40
  • Diesel: Rs402.96 to Rs395.20 a litre, down Rs7.76
  • New rates effective from 3 November 2026
  • About Rs15 billion a month borne by local refineries, per the government

The cut comes as world oil prices fell about 6 percent on Monday, with Brent crude down to $106.65 a barrel, on hopes that talks over the Iran war could ease supply fears. That link runs both ways for Pakistan, as China's fresh Middle East diplomacy push and the Iran team leaving Doha as a draft United States deal took shape both touch the same fuel and shipping pressures at home.
