Urgent Warning for iPhone Users: Powerful Exploit Kit Leaked on GitHub Millions of Devices Now at Serious Risk
Someone has publicly leaked a dangerous new iOS exploit kit called DarkSword on GitHub. Security researchers say this toolkit can let hackers take full control of iPhones running older versions of iOS, potentially affecting hundreds of millions of devices worldwide.
The leaked tools make it much easier for cybercriminals, spyware sellers, and even less-skilled hackers to launch attacks. All it often takes is visiting a malicious website, not clicking suspicious links or downloading apps required in some cases.
What the DarkSword Exploit Kit Can Do
- Steal messages, emails, photos, location history, and contacts
- Access cryptocurrency wallets and signed-in accounts
- Record audio and track your movements
- Install persistent backdoors for long-term spying
It targets iPhones on iOS versions 18.4 to 18.7 (and possibly others if not fully updated). Apple has already patched many of these vulnerabilities in the latest iOS updates, but millions of people are still running outdated software.
Why This Is a Big Deal
This isn’t the first time advanced government-grade hacking tools have leaked into the wild (a similar kit called Coruna caused chaos earlier this month). Once these powerful exploits go public on platforms like GitHub, they spread fast and get repurposed by all kinds of bad actors.
What You Should Do Right Now
- Update your iPhone immediately. Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install the latest iOS version.
- Avoid clicking on unknown links or visiting suspicious websites.
- Enable automatic updates if you haven’t already.
- Consider using a reputable security app or enabling Lockdown Mode if you’re in a high-risk group.
Apple is expected to release further patches soon, but staying updated is your best defence.
